What is Hyaluronic acid-based filling??
Hyaluronic acid is the most preferred and widely used substance in injection applications commonly referred to as ‘fill’. This is because hyaluronic acid is one of the most basic building blocks of the skin and is found in many organs in the natural state; it is a connective protein that fills the area between collagen and elastin fibers in the dermis which is the second layer of the skin. Therefore, although the first thing that comes to the mind is voluminous, shapely, curved lips when filler is mentioned, hyaluronic acid-based injections are used to shape the face, replace the volume lost with time and improve the face oval that has deteriorated.
Why Hyaluronic Acid?
With the reduction of hyaluronic acid in the skin, the skin loses its ability to retain moisture, hence the skin loses its moisture. Dehydrated skin dries, begins to lose its elasticity. With external hyaluronic acid applications to retain moisture, cells can retain and bind up to 1000 times as much water. This is the most important feature of Hyaluronic Acid. Thus, skin regains volume, moisture and elasticity.
The decrease of hyaluronic acid and the subsequent changes in the skin and the facial area can be likened to a snowball effect. If the necessary intervention is not done at the right time, visible traces of age, thin wrinkles, sagging of the face oval and lines around the mouth deepen and the content of the intervention to be made and the amount of product to be used will vary and increase accordingly. However, it is possible to have a more aesthetic appearance, a more proportionate, younger, more radiant, glossy skin with a more compact face oval with timely applications.
Where is Hyaluronic Acid used?
In hyaluronic acid applications, the quantity and the content of the product to be used are determined according to the application. The structure of the product to be used in the area to be improved is coded according to specific problems and developed for the purpose. In general, we can divide the applications into two, either for aesthetic purposes or for improvement. Generally we can list the titles of the applications as follows:
- Sagging of the face oval and around the mouth
- Fine lines, nasal-lip line removal (nasolabial)
- Sunken eye cavities
- Accentuating, shaping cheeks, cheek bones
- Voluminizing and shaping lips
- Eliminating lines above the lips (barcode lines)
- Nose lifting and shaping
- Jaw line shaping (forming a V-shaped face oval)
- Removing lines between the forehead and eyebrows
- Eliminating wrinkles in the neck
- Removing acne pockmarks and scars
How are Hyaluronic Acid Based Applications made?
An anesthetic cream is applied to reduce the sensation of pain before the application. The procedure is initiated after 20-30 minutes and it lasts only 15-20 minutes. Hyaluronic acid is applied by injection or by cannula depending on the treatment area. Product quantity may vary depending on skin condition and application area.
Temporary redness, swelling, pain, mild bruising or tenderness may be observed. However, the dimension of such possible after effects does not require a break in social life. The side effects after skin and lip injections improve in an average of one week after application. They are safe, non-allergic applications.
The results of the application are immediately apparent. However, the final look is manifested in about one month after the edema that occurs during the application decreases and a natural look emerges. Hyaluronic acid-based fillings should be repeated within 6-8 months.
